SistersWe (SW) a newly formed 501(c)3 organization based in Muscoy, California, a disadvantaged community in the county of San Bernardino (pop. 10,644 as of 8, 2010 census) the brain child of biological sisters Nedra Myricks, Vanessa Dean and Adrienne Thomas. SW is working to establish a community garden and farmers market on a currently vacant property in Muscoy. Vanessa and Adrienne are recent graduates of the Incredible Edible Community Garden's "Green Infrastructure" training program and want to bring the knowledge and skills they acquired to their community and others. Nedra is a retired Administrative Professional and will functions as Executive Assistant for the group. The sisters have a long history of supporting community activities in the visual art and music fields.
There will be much to see here, so, come back, look around, and learn all there is to know about us and take a moment to drop us a line.

In addition to the beautification efforts this project will bring to our community, SW will also support other local non-profits and residents in establishing environmentally friendly, green living spaces by creating community gardens and donating trees for planting in urban settings.
Additional programs will include health, exercise and educational components executed through relationships with and assistance from local residents.
Through planting community gardens and providing neighborhoods with accessible farmers markets, SistersWe aims to educate residents young and old o the importance of sequestered oxygen from plants, raise awareness to the importance of clean, healthy eating thus living healthier, stronger, longer lives; and promote community pride
SW proposes to create a community garden and green space on donated property. SW will work with local schools, faith-based organizations and other community groups to bring awareness to the issue of how trees and green vegetation helps sequester carbon emissions in our cities.
Greetings All!
Here’s hoping you, your families and loved ones have managed to stay healthy during this crazy time. We wanted to touch bases with all our volunteers and supporters to again express our thanks and appreciation, and to bring everyone up to date on SistersWe activities and upcoming projects.
Your health and safety are of the utmost importance to us, so of course due to Covid-19, we have suspended all of our group activities and functions. We hope to re-start volunteer activities in late September to finish planting the wall in downtown San Bernardino and begin planting at the Muscoy Community Garden location. To accomplish the monumental task in Muscoy, we submitted a grant proposal to Bank of America Charitable Foundation and are waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully by this time next year we will be harvesting fruits and veggies from the garden. Toes and fingers crossed everybody!!
Nolan Street from California to State Street is now part of San Bernardino County’s “Adopt-A-Road Program” sponsored by SistersWe. The official sign recently went in, and we are SO PROUD to be a part of this beautification effort in our immediate community! We are committed to assisting our neighbors with keeping Nolan Street clean and hazard free.
We have also partnered with other local, community-based organizations on a couple of new projects around town. First, we are working with the San Bernardino Civic Association, Pastors United, CSUSB History Club and the City of San Bernardino on beautifying the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Inland Regional shooting at the corner of Waterman Ave. and Orange Show Roads. Plans are in the works to add some greenery and a permanent memorial at that location. Volunteers will be needed to assist with this effort. Final plans, dates, times, etc., will be announced when available.
Secondly, our friend David Friedman of Viva La Boba has enlisted SistersWe to help him establish a community garden at a property he owns on the corner of 8th and D Streets. The “8th Street Community Garden” will provide many uses for the community, with emphasis on showcasing local art/artists; space for educational workshops; and eventually cooking classes and possibly a vegetarian restaurant! Currently recruiting businesses, community members and other non-profits in the area for their support and participation. Planning meetings will be scheduled and announced soon.
And we have not forgotten about the t-shirts we promised each of you for your help. Unfortunately, SistersWe became a victim of dishonest businesspeople in our own community. We were fortunate and grateful to have t-shirts donated to us by “Vintage Vinyl Plus”, the new music store opening in downtown San Bernardino. We found a local printer to produce the shirts with the SistersWe logo; “599 Trophy & Printing” took 30 of our t-shirts and FULL PAYMENT for the job in late February. We are still waiting to either receive the printed t-shirts OR the blank t-shirts AND a full refund. We have called, e-mailed, and texted them for months with no reply and no compensation. We later found out that they currently have two cases pending in Small Claims Court for the same offenses! A reminder to all of us to do our homework in advance before you enter ANY transaction. T shirts coming, as soon as we find a new printer!!
Again, thank you to each and every one of you who believes in and supports the efforts of SistersWe. We will be in touch!
